Paula Vogel's The Oldest Profession takes place in New York, just after Reagan's election in 1980. Five elderly prostitutes sit on a park bench, discussing diminishing clientele, increased competition, and aching joints. With wit, compassion and humor, they struggle to adjust to changing circumstances.

Additional Information
The Director: Lisë Stern recently directed Theatre@First's staged reading of The Bakery, a screenplay she wrote about love, family and cupcakes. Food is her professional focus, as an editor and writer, and she's written or contributed to several books including Culinary Tea, How to Keep Kosher, and The Boston food Lover. She edits two food-related magazines: Hannaford supermarket's fresh and Taste of the Seacoast. Theatrical work includes being a cast member of Theatre@First's improv troupe Cat Soup, Festival@First 7: Shaken Up Shakespeare, and several North Cambridge Family Opera productions.
Bare Bones: Staged Readings at Theatre@First offers directors, casts and audiences the chance to explore a wide variety of plays in a spare, intense setting.
