We pledge to act and interact in ways that contribute to an open, welcoming, diverse, inclusive, and healthy community.
Our Standards
Examples of behavior that contributes to a positive environment for our community include:
Demonstrating empathy and kindness toward other people
Practice appreciation for yourself and others. Acknowledge that rest and self-care provide important balance to participation.Speaking from the “I” — your own understanding.
Share your own experiences. Do not speak for others.Being mindful of the power and privilege you hold.
Lean in/step back when it makes sense for you to do so.Engaging with curiosity and a spirit of collaboration
Be respectful of differing opinions, viewpoints, and experiences. Welcome others’ ideas. Give and gracefully accept constructive feedback. If you do not understand something, ask for clarity.Accepting responsibility for words and actions, apologizing to those affected by our mistakes, and learning from the experience
Give permission and space to yourself and your colleagues to speak in rough draft. Assume the best intentions of others and acknowledge that intention does not equal impact.Focusing on what is best not just for us as individuals, but for the overall community
Communicate clearly about expectations and commitments. Recognize that we are all volunteers and our time and efforts deserve respect.Requesting explicit, enthusiastic consent
Everyone has the right to participate or pass and to set boundaries for their own physical and mental safety, as needed.
